Business Lessons From Steve Jobs Daniel Stoica Accounting ProfessionalAfter the passing of Apple Corporation’s co-founder and CEO, Steve Jobs, on October 5th, it seems fitting to take a look at how Steve helped the growth of business with his innovation and technological genius. The following are four lessons that Steve Jobs has passed along over the years. They should serve as a guide to all businesses when working to reach the goal of success.

During his lifetime, Steve Jobs was regarded as a genius who changed many aspects of technology forever. He gave the world incredibly intuitive and exciting gadgets that have spawned countless imitators and that the business world can no longer live without.

It wasn’t difficult for the world to be in awe of his brilliance. Even Bill Gates looked up to Jobs as a teacher and friend. All companies should keep in mind the following four lessons that Steve taught us.

1. Aim for perfection

Steve Jobs aimed for perfection by improving on everything he created, then improving on it again. He never stopped at things being good; he made them great.

2. Draw on the experts

All businesses can draw from Steve Jobs and his expertise. He is characterized as an expert because he wasn’t afraid to share his knowledge with the world. But, Steve looked for the advice of other experts in his field to help him improve on his projects. He realized when he needed help, and he turned to those who knew more.

3. Be a life-long learner

Steve never stopped learning. He took the advice and help from others, no matter what field they were in, so he could learn from them and make himself, and his products, better. Business owners need to take that wisdom from others and continue to learn and grow their businesses.

4. Keep it simple

Steve’s creations were simple, but extraordinary. He made them so that everyone could easily understand how to use them. You didn’t have to be a “techie” to learn how to use an iPod or iPhone or a Mac. Steve believed that simple was better. Some business owners tend to make it hard on themselves, which makes it hard on their business. Take the time to simplify and your business will succeed.

Through the years, tens of thousands of people worldwide have learned from Steve Jobs by working to perfect what they are doing, by learning from those who can teach them, and by simplifying what they do. Even though Steve is gone, we can all still learn from his genius if we keep these four things in mind.

Rest In Peace, Steve!
