Daniel started his professional career as a Night Manager and Systems Administrator at Sheraton Suites Elk Grove, where driven by perceived inefficiencies and ineffectiveness, he redesigned the Night Audit which resulted in cost reductions of 75% labor, 80% supplies, and 90% storage.

In 1996 Metro Hotels recruited Daniel and successively promoted him until he became a Corporate Senior Accountant. He was instrumental in contributing to the management transition and training of the accounting staff at newly acquired properties.

In 1998 Daniel joined MeriStar Hotels & Resorts as a Corporate Accounting Manager. He was in charge of nine full-service properties and provided full service and full cycle financial statements reporting. He reduced costs and improved timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting controls by transitioning several properties from decentralized to centralized accounting. In a team effort, Daniel developed and improved the company policy and procedure for the retention of original documents to meet GAAP and audit requirements.
